I just read an
article on MSN Health & Fitness that says honey can speed healing on superficial wounds such as cuts and burns. I guess "honey acts as an antibacterial agent, rapidly cleaning out and preventing further infection". One study showed that on average, burns treated with honey healed in 11 days which was 4 days less than burns treated without it and it helped reduce swelling and minimized scarring. I guess it has to be a locally farmed product instead of the commercial brands. And hey, it can be quite convenient if you burn your finger while making yourself a spot of tea. Just stick it in some honey and then you can use it to sweeten your tea at the same time.
