Penny pinching
I admit that often I am a penny pincher like this.
Why is it that some of us penny pinchers will cringe when you use an extra paper towel to clean up a mess, but then will pay more than say $5 for a meal at a fast food restaurant that could easily be made at home for a fraction of the cost? And then at the same restaurant we will take extra napkins home (to use instead of those expensive extra paper towels), extra condiments and utensils, and make sure to fill up our soft drinks to take home for some future meal at home. Or how about those of us who turn the heat or air conditioner way down making everyone suffer to save a few pennies all the while enjoying our nice spacious home (which is actually why it costs so much to heat and cool that much space). Or taking extra effort to take home the soap and shampoo every day you stay at a hotel which costs way too much, and then spend big bucks for a haircut. OK, those of you who know me know that I may take home the shampoo, but since I am folically challenged would never spend big bucks on a haircut.
I know you are probably saying that there are usually good reasons for spending extra for things like a fast meal, nice house, and even a nice haircut, but sometimes the penny pinching can go a little overboard ... or maybe that penny pinching attitude is why you are able to spend extra for those things occasionally. Hmmm.
More on spending habits tomorrow.

I was raised to "waste not, want not" Therefore, I really admire those that try to save. It blows my mind to see people throw good food away as it could be used in other recipes. Or to spend too much money on ones's self, like for tanning, pedicures, hair color, etc. One should take a look at their needs, make out a budget and follow it. The Bible even speaks to this.
